Audi Q8 : An SUV is coming !

Audi’s Q range (Q3, Q5 and Q7) is getting a facelift, and new models will be added in the next few years. For example, we already know that in 2018 the German car maker will be releasing a new SUV based on the next generation of the Q7. Dubbed the Q8, it will be a four-door coupe inspired by the BMW X6. Two configurations will be offered in the cabin: 5 or 7 seats.

In terms of technology and performance, Audi intends to make this Q8 an equivalent to its A8. Under the hood, the German car maker will therefore be proposing conventional engines (petrol and diesel), a rechargeable hybrid version and even a 100% electric motor. The latter will likely be borrowed from the R8 e-tron. Under the hood of that zero-emission sports car, the engine generates 381 horsepower, with a range of 250 km. For the Q8 e-tron, this range should be even greater, thanks to a battery capacity of 80 kWh.

With the Q8 e-tron, Audi is positioning itself as a direct rival to Tesla in the United States. Around 2015 - 2016, the American car maker intends to release a crossover - the Model X – with a fully electric motor. In any case, by the time this duel begins, Audi should already have released three new compact SUVs on our market: the Q1, Q2 and Q4. Stay tuned...
