The last week of June was a memorable one for Citroën. The French car maker just released its latest model under the double chevron logo: the C4 Cactus. You could say that this SUV announces a comeback for the make. The Belgian importer describes it as a simple, robust and definitely original model.
In terms of design, the C4 Cactus is not what you'd call discreet, with its "Airbump" panels. These are air-filled plastic panels which protect the doors from any lateral shocks. Beyond its general line and its shocking aesthetic details, the C4 Cactus is seeking to become the "queen of innovations".
In the cabin, to save on space, the car maker moved the passenger airbag from the dashboard to the roof, exchanged the automatic gear selector for buttons (D, N and R) and also replaced several commands on the centre console with a modern 7-inch touch screen. Not bad! However, from a practical standpoint, one will have to make do with a single fold action for the rear bench and with rear windows which pop out instead of roll down.
For the Cactus, Citroën only offers small engines. For petrol engines, the three-cylinder comes with either 75 hp or 82 hp. For Diesel, there is a choice between a four-cylinder with 92 hp or 100 hp. On this SUV, there won't be an all-wheel-drive option.
