In March, at the Geneva motor show, Infiniti – Nissan’s luxury brand – presented a concept ready to do battle with the most powerful German sedans of the moment. This sporty car, called Q50 Eau Rouge, has just been entrusted to British magazine EVO’s journalists for a first test run. Is this the sign that the concept might pass from dream to reality? A few weeks away from the Paris motor show, you could seriously think so.
Of this sedan, we already know that it has a carbon-fibre body, well suited to the aerodynamic elements, and that it is equipped with black 21 inch rims. Those are some elements that you should announce the colour of, right? Right! But the best is yet to come...
To make this Q50 unforgettable, the manufacturer has delved into Nissan’s organ bank. They notably found there a 3.799 cc V6 bi-turbo, the same engine which powers a certain GT-R. Under the hood of this Q50, this V6 produces 568 horsepower and has a torque value of 600 Nm. This engine is linked up to an automatic seven-speed gearbox which can be controlled by flappy paddles at the wheel. Lastly, for complete pleasure, Infiniti is offering its sedan a permanent integral transmission. Thanks to this technical solution, the torque is shared 50/50 between the front and the rear. With such paraphernalia, this Eau Rouge Q50 should be able to peacefully get to 290 km/h.
Do you see a heavyweight rival in this Infiniti?
