A few weeks away from the Paris Motor Show, few are the manufacturers who are not sifting out information on their upcoming models. Mazda is no exception to this rule. As a reminder, a short while ago, we unveiled the first details concerning the upcoming MX-5 roadster. Today, it’s the Mazda 2 that’s showing the tip of its hood...
Of this compact car ready to do battle with the Clio, 208 and Polo cars, we already know that, concerning the style, it’s staying true to the Hazumi concept seen in Geneva in March, but also that the accent has been as much on the living space as on security, notably with the presence of several driving aides (i-ACTIVSENSE). For this fourth generation, the manufacturer has also announced the launch of an innovative onboard connectivity system “MZD Connect”, a system which apparently allows total interaction with a Smartphone. The manufacturer finally announces the advent of an HUD. Such luxury!
Under the hood, Mazda offers a nice range of engines. At the launch of the “2” we should logically be able to count on two fuel engines (1.3 and 1.5) and a diesel engine. The diesel should be the 1.5l SKYACTIV-D with 104 horsepower. These engines would be offered with the choice of a 6 speed manual or automatic gearbox.
That said, this Mazda 2 won’t arrive straightaway in the Belgian dealerships; the manufacturer won’t be marketing them in Japan before the autumn.
Does the « 2 » seem well born to destabilise the current references?
