Porsche unveils its new 4-cyclinder 718 Boxster

After having announced a few weeks ago the appearance of a flat-four turbo engine in its range, Porsche has now unveiled the new 718 Boxster in which it is found.

So, it’s a truly restyled version of its Boxster that Porsche is presenting less than a month from the opening of the Geneva International Motor Show. The front and rear ends, and the body, have been slightly restyled but that’s not the most important thing.

Because the big news is the appearance of a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine under the hood! At 300 horsepower and 380 Nm it can reach 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, against the current 6-cylinder, 265 horsepower model which takes 5.5 seconds.

As for the Boxster S, with 4 cylinders, 2.5 –liters, 350 horsepower and 420 Nm you can go from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.2 seconds, before reaching 285 km/h. Thanks to this downsizing, the Boxster with PDK gearbox only uses 6.9 liters per 100 km, or 1 liter less than its predecessor.

What do you think about the changes that Porsche has made?
