The i20 is ready to do battle with the European superminis!

Hyundai is continuing to renew its range. After the i10 city car was unveiled a few months ago, today the versatile sedan i20 is showing the tip of its hood via the first official photos and information. Destined to rival the Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio and Volkswagen Polo types, this i20 has strong assets.

Going from one generation to another, if its design wants to be more dynamic, this i20 gains a few precious centimetres. Its total length is now 4.035m and its wheelbase rises to 2.570m; 4.5 cm more than the current model. According to Hyundai, this wheelbase would provide the most legroom (front/rear) for the segment with 1.892m.  From a practical point of view, we note as well that the boot has a useful volume of 326 litres, which can naturally be extended once the rear seats have been folded down.

Concerning the equipment, Hyundai is widening its offer a bit more. The manufacturer is planning to give its i20 LED headlights and taillights, but also a panoramic roof that can open up and an integrated rear-view camera.

Finally, to run this i20, if no information has been provided for the moment, several sources are already suggesting that turbo fuel engines should replace the current four-cylinder ‘atmospherics’. The Diesel CRDi engines should naturally be available at various levels of power. To know more about the i20, we’ll have to wait for the opening of the Paris Motor Show at the start of October. Patience...
