A few weeks away from the Paris Motor Show, Skoda is finally releasing some information about its new Fabia. Concretely, according to the press photos, we find a version which shows off a design that prefers angles to curves, a style in line with the current range. These photos also reveal a Fabia that is more dynamic. It’s true that it’s slightly shorter (-8mm), lower (-31 mm) and wider (+90mm). Concerning the interior, we’ll have to wait for the doors to open in Paris to know the details. Patience...
Like the Volkswagen Polo, its cousin, this Fabia doesn’t yet benefit from the assets of the modular MQB platform that appeared with the seventh generation Golf. Nevertheless, it’s already acquired a few elements: transmission, motorisation, and assisted and electronic direction are first on board.
Under the hood of the Fabia, we find the Euro 6 engines that were already tested by the Polo. For petrol, we’ll have the choice between a 1.0 MPI (60 or 75 hp) and a 1.2 TSI (90 or 110 hp). The three-cylinder 1.4 TDI will be the Diesel offer and will be available at three levels of power: 75, 90 and 105 horsepower. The DSG 7-speed gearbox can be hooked up to the 90 hp 1.4 TDI and the 110 hp 1.2 TSI.
From a practical point of view, you can note that the boot will have a useful volume of about 300 litres. Finally, following the trend of the times, this Fabia will also be customisable.
And you, how do you find the new Fabia?
