Around the Nürburgring, no two days are the same. In fact, not a day goes by without our ‘spies’ coming face to face with a future model right in the middle of a test session. The latest to have been caught is a Range Rover with a long wheelbase. With such a pachyderm on the legendary circuit, we can but wonder if Land Rover isn’t about to prepare a ‘muscled’ version of its model. But, by thinking about it, and knowing that Bentley is working on refining its big SUV, you no longer doubt it.
What’s more, Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s lead designer, mentioned a little while ago the possibility of a truly superlative Range Rover. To explain, he even specified that the brand wanted to be able to offer its clients what he called ‘the ultimate level’! We can thus confirm that the manufacturer will soon be offering a Range Rover LWB entirely developed by the “Special Vehicle Operations” department. As a reminder, this department is also where the Range Rover Sport SVR emerged from, which set a lap of 8 minutes and 14 seconds around the Nürburgring last summer.
The first photos confirm this idea, as this Range Rover LWB has two double exhausts. Under the hood, we can guess that there is a supercharged 5-litre V8 engine, with 550 horsepower and 680 Nm. Say hello to trips to the fuel station!
And you, what do you think of these SUVs which are desperate to show off?
