HISTORIE/DOCUMENTATIE
De MG B: een populaire sportauto zoals hij hoort te zijn: lichtgewicht, wendbaar en een genot om mee te rijden. Deze Roadster betreft een zeer fraai en origineel exemplaar die prachtig is uitgevoerd in een diep donkerblauwe kleur, beige mohair softtop, originele chroombumpers en spaakwielen met een klassieke uitstraling. Bijzonder is dat dit exemplaar in 1974 origineel geleverd is in Zwitserland. Als in 1984 is de auto naar Nederland gekomen, waar de auto slechts twee eigenaren heeft gehad. De auto is altijd goed verzorgd en dat is te zien: hij verkeert in een zeer mooie en originele staat. Bij de auto is een taxatierapport uit 2022 aanwezig, evenals APK-formulieren (inmiddels is de auto niet meer APK-plichtig). De MG beschikt over klassieke blauwe kentekenplaten. Mede dankzij de optionele overdrive is dit een echt verzamelaarsexemplaar.

EXTERIEUR
In het verleden is de auto gerestaureerd waarbij het lakwerk op een nette manier is gespoten. De originele schermen van aan de bovenkant van de carrosseriedelen zijn doorgelast ter voorkoming van roestvorming. De carrosserie is zeer netjes en roest- en schadevrij. Het rood/oranje lakwerk springt in het oog en is opvallend fris. Ook de ruiten, rubbers en de verlichting verkeren in een goede staat. De koplampen zijn afkomstig van Lucas. De chromen spaakwielen beschikken over Vredestein banden met ruim voldoende profiel. De originele chroombumpers zijn vrij van beschadigingen. Het chroomwerk verkeert in een goede staat met lichte gebruikerssporen.

INTERIEUR
Het zwarte skai-lederen interieur is nog zeer fraai zonder beschadigingen en ademt een Engelse sfeer. Voor de veiligheid zijn heupgordels aangebracht. Ook het stalen dashboard en de tellers verkeren in een keurige staat. Een fraaie accessoire is het houten Moto-Lita stuurwiel en de houten pookknop. Verder is een radio-cassettespeler geïnstalleerd. De kofferruimte is verzorgt, compleet ingericht en biedt plaats aan het reservewiel.

TECHNISCH
Het motorcompartiment ziet er verzorgd en schoon uit en biedt plaats aan de 1.798 cc 4-cilinder motor. De MG start, rijdt en schakelt goed. Door de jaren heen is de MG goed onderhouden. Kortom: een schitterend exemplaar van een iconische auto om een lach op uw gezicht te toveren.

ALGEMEEN
De MG B volgde in 1963 de MG A op, een auto die voor MG - onderdeel van The British Motor Company (BMC) - al tamelijk populair was met ruim 100.000 exemplaren. De MG B zou tot 1980 geproduceerd worden en hiervan zijn uiteindelijk nog meer geproduceerd: ruim een half miljoen exemplaren. Naast de roadster zijn ook andere varianten geproduceerd zoals de MG B GT driedeurs 2+2 coupé (1965-1980), de zescilinder MG C (1967-1969), en de achtcilinder MG B GT V8. De MG B was met zijn 1.8-liter motor en 95 pk een stuk krachtiger dan de 1.6-liter MG A. Naast prestaties en rijeigenschappen moest de MG B hoog scoren op het gebied van veiligheid en betaalbaarheid. Door deze combinatie werd de auto een groot succes. De carrosserie is zelfdragend en het lage zwaartepunt en gebruik van aluminium carrosseriedelen zorgt voor een laag gewicht van 970 KG en een hoge mate van wendbaarheid. Het onafhankelijke veersysteem komt het comfort dan weer ten goede. Kortom: een groot succes in het hoogtepunt van de Britse auto-industrie. Een ideale klassieker voor tourritten, vakantieritten of gewoon om te koesteren.

HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION
The MG B: a popular sports car just as it should be: lightweight, agile and a joy to drive. This Roadster is a very fine and original example, beautifully finished in a deep dark blue colour, with a beige mohair soft top, original chrome bumpers and spoke wheels with a classic look. What makes this car special is that it was originally delivered to Switzerland in 1974. The car came to the Netherlands in 1984, where it has had only two owners. The car has always been well looked after, and it shows: it is in a very fine and original condition. The car comes with a valuation report from 2022, as well as MOT forms (the car is no longer subject to MOT requirements). The MG has classic blue number plates. Thanks in part to the optional overdrive, this is a true collector’s item.

EXTERIOR
The car has been restored in the past, with the paintwork neatly sprayed. The original fenders at the top of the body panels have been welded through to prevent rust formation. The bodywork is very neat and free from rust and damage. The red/orange paintwork catches the eye and is strikingly fresh. The windows, rubber seals and lighting are also in good condition. The headlights are from Lucas. The chrome wire-spoke wheels are fitted with Vredestein tyres with more than adequate tread. The original chrome bumpers are free from damage. The chrome trim is in good condition with slight signs of wear.

INTERIOR
The black imitation leather interior is still very attractive, free from damage, and exudes an English atmosphere. Lap belts have been fitted for safety. The steel dashboard and dials are also in neat condition. A fine accessory is the wooden Moto-Lita steering wheel and the wooden gear knob. A radio-cassette player has also been fitted. The boot is well-maintained, fully fitted and accommodates the spare wheel.

TECHNICAL
The engine compartment looks neat and clean and houses the 1,798 cc 4-cylinder engine. The MG starts, drives and changes gear well. Over the years, the MG has been well maintained. In short: a magnificent example of an iconic car to put a smile on your face.

GENERAL
The MG B succeeded the MG A in 1963, a car that had already proved quite popular for MG – part of The British Motor Company (BMC) – with over 100,000 units sold. The MG B was to be produced until 1980, and ultimately even more were produced: over half a million units. In addition to the roadster, other variants were also produced, such as the MG B GT three-door 2+2 coupé (1965–1980), the six-cylinder MG C (1967–1969), and the eight-cylinder MG B GT V8. With its 1.8-litre engine and 95 hp, the MG B was considerably more powerful than the 1.6-litre MG A. In addition to performance and handling, the MG B was designed to score highly in terms of safety and affordability. This combination made the car a huge success. The body is self-supporting, and the low centre of gravity and use of aluminium body panels result in a low kerb weight of 970 kg and a high degree of agility. The independent suspension system, in turn, enhances comfort. In short: a great success at the height of the British car industry. An ideal classic for touring, holiday trips or simply to cherish.
