Onder de motorkap ligt een zeer betrouwbare 1497 cc benzinemotor met vier cilinders. Dit motorblok werd ook geleverd in de Toyota Starlet en staat nog steeds bekend om de degelijkheid. Het vermogen is 90 pk en is voldoende voor comfortabel en sportief rijgedrag. Onder de motorkap is duidelijk zichtbaar dat deze auto zeer goed is onderhouden.
