Description
MGA ‘Twin-Cam’ Coupé, year 1958.
Chassis (VIN) number YMH5/2328, body number MGA509.
Black exterior colour combined with a red interior. Red leather seats, red vinyl door cards and dashboard trim, red wool carpet.
This rare MGA Twin-Cam was sold new to South Africa; the car was road registered over a year later in January 1960.
In the year 2023 the car was imported from South Africa to the Netherlands.
This fantastic MGA ‘Twin-Cam’ is in a good condition showing signs of use and age.
The body panels and paint show some dings, scratches, and paint flaws.
The original interior was refurbished in the past (red leather was newly coloured) and is still in a nice condition, a true time capsule!
Mechanically and technically, everything works and operates beautifully.
The engine runs and sounds very well, and the modern 5-speed gearbox (modification) shifts snappy and precise. The 1589 cc Twin-Cam’ engine is originally fitted with twin S.U. carburettors (108 bhp output), this car features two twin choke Weber 42-DCOE carburettors adding more horsepower, performance, and an impressive engine noise!
The engine is fitted with an oil-cooler.
The MGA ‘Twin-Cam’ was one of the first cars fitted with the early Dunlop disk brakes at the front wheels. The brakes were upgraded with Willwood brake callipers.
The MGA ‘Twin-Cam’ is a rare MG model of which only 2111 cars were built from 1957 until 1959. The MGA Twin-Cam cars can be easily distinguished by the special Dunlop ‘centre-lock’ wheels and the ‘Twin-Cam’ badges on both sides of the bonnet.
With the bonnet open spectators are treated by the magnificent and impressive looks of the ‘Twin-Cam’ cylinder head!
This is an MGA “Twin-Cam’ in very good driver condition, the MGA ‘holy grail’ and a rare find for the enthusiast!
