Description
Introduced in 2000 and launched in 2001, the E46 generation BMW M3 is now considered one of the most accomplished M3s ever produced. Developed by BMW M, it embodies the perfect balance between pure sportiness and everyday usability. Under its hood lies the renowned naturally aspirated S54 inline six-cylinder engine, a high-revving 3.2-liter unit producing 343 hp at 7,900 rpm and 365 Nm of torque, capable of propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.2 seconds. Its distinctive metallic sound and ability to rev to over 8,000 rpm have significantly contributed to this model's reputation among enthusiasts.
The M3 E46 also stands out thanks to its extremely precise chassis: specific suspension components, an M limited-slip differential, a near 50/50 weight distribution, and direct steering. All of this is housed in a subtly wider body compared to the standard 3 Series, with flared fenders, an aluminum hood with a central bulge, and the four exhaust outlets that have become emblematic of M models.
This 2001 example is of particular interest as it is equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox, which has become relatively rare compared to the numerous E46 M3s delivered with the SMG II sequential transmission. The manual gearbox enhances the driving experience and is a highly sought-after choice for purists.
The car has 180,000 km on the odometer and a complete service history with maintenance invoices. It was originally delivered new in the Netherlands before being imported to Belgium. Over the years, it has benefited from several upgrades inspired by the M3 CSL, the most extreme version in the range: engine optimization, suspension upgrades, and the fitting of specific wheels, enhancing both the car's handling precision and sporty character.
Thanks to these developments and its documented maintenance, this M3 E46 retains all the essence of what makes this model so charming: an analog, precise and extremely engaging sports car, now considered one of the last great naturally aspirated BMW M cars of the modern era.

December 2019
Order of parts for a complete overhaul of the S54 VANOS system , including a Beisan Systems overhaul kit, seal kit, anti-rattle kit, and upgraded components (chain guide and oil pump sprocket). Also purchased were various genuine BMW parts.
March 2020
Engine maintenance: oil pan gasket, engine mounts and oil filter .
April 2020 – 167,096 km
Major mechanical repairs at The Engineer's Garage :
Preventive replacement of connecting rod bearings , inspection of the lower engine and oil pump upgrade . Several oil circuit seals are replaced and the engine is reassembled with fresh oil.
June 2020
Replacing the lighting with Philips D2S Xenon bulbs .
October 2020 – 170,509 km
Reinforcement work on the rear axle (subframe) with dismantling of the rear axle, welding of reinforcement plates and complete reassembly, a classic reliability operation on the M3 E46.
