Description
Austin Healey 3000 Mk III Phase 2, year 1967.
Finished in Dark Blue (Basilica Blue) over Cream White (a rare and original Healey colour scheme) combined with a dark blue leather interior and dark blue carpeting.
The car is fitted with a blue soft top and a blue mohair tonneau cover.
This is a “matching numbers” example, confirmed by the accompanying British Motor Heritage Certificate.
This fantastic ‘Big Healey’ was sold new in Illinois (USA) in 1967 and shipped to the Netherlands in 1988. In 1999 the car was purchased by Altena Classic Service to be fully restored for a client.
Between 1999 and 2001 the Austin Healey was extensively restored to concours (show) condition. No expense or effort was spared: every component was restored, overhauled or renewed. The engine was overhauled by the renowned Dutch specialist Van Giersbergen, and the bodywork was restored by Van Emst.
A comprehensive file containing all invoices, a photographic restoration report and historic documents is present.
This magnificent Austin Healey has been meticulously serviced and maintained over the years and is in excellent condition.
The Mk III Phase 2 represents the final evolution of the ‘Big Healey’, distinguished by its more luxurious dashboard with wood panelling, a more comfortable interior, an easy to operate convertible top and improved rear suspension for enhanced ride comfort.
The 1967 model, however, can be regarded as Phase 3, as it features larger attention and direction light lenses at the front and rear compared with the earlier Phase 2 cars.
This wonderful example is equipped with overdrive, 72 spoke chrome wire wheels fitted with Vredestein Classic Sprint 185/15 tyres, a stainless steel exhaust system and a chrome badge bar with two Lucas SLR576 long range spot lamps.
The original USA Title and import documents are present, and this Austin Healey can be exported to any country worldwide. This ‘Big Healey’ drives and sounds superbly. An excellent example in every respect.
