Manual Daimler SP250 Dart LHD
The Daimler SP250, better known as the Dart, is undoubtedly one of the most special and rare British sports cars of the early 1960s. Daimler, then part of the Jaguar group, presented the SP250 in 1959 as a direct competitor to the Triumph TR and Austin-Healey — but with a trump card its rivals didn't have: its own V8 engine. The compact 2,548 cc V8, fitted with two SU carburetors, delivers 140 hp and gives the Dart a character that captivates enthusiasts to this day. Production was limited to just 2,646 examples, of which only 1,198 were left-hand drive — making this car an absolute rarity. This particular example, put into service on April 25, 1962, has a turbulent but fascinating history: the car originally came from the United States and was on display in a museum for several years. The Daimler has been restored in the past, during which the wiring was largely renewed, the exhaust was replaced, and the chassis received a new protective layer of black bitumen.
The unmistakable bodywork — a steel chassis with a polyester body — has been repainted in deep black, a color that brings out the flowing lines of the roadster. The paint has a beautiful, homogeneous sheen and the body panels are sleek. Elegant chrome details, a new beige-brown convertible roof, and gleaming wire-spoke wheels with 72 spokes and central locking complete the timeless picture. With the roof down, the Dart reveals its red interior: the seats, dashboard, and door panels are fully upholstered in red leather, while a matching red carpet adorns the floor. The Moto-Lita steering wheel in wood and polished aluminum serves as a stylish centerpiece, surrounded by a full instrument panel in original trim. The interplay of the black exterior and the deep red interior makes this SP250 Dart a car that attracts attention in any collection or on any driveway.
