Description

The Dino 208 GT4 occupies a particularly interesting place in Ferrari's history. Presented in 1975, it derives directly from the Dino 308 GT4 unveiled two years earlier and constitutes its two-litre version, developed mainly for the Italian market in order to benefit from more favourable taxation for engines of less than 2000 cc.

The 208 GT4 features the distinctive design by Bertone, the work of Marcello Gandini. Its angular silhouette conceals a particularly original architecture for its time: a mid-rear V8 engine and a 2+2 seating configuration. Its 1,991 cc V8, fed by four Weber carburetors, develops approximately 170 hp and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Produced in only around 840 examples between 1975 and 1980, the 208 GT4 is now considerably rarer than its sibling, the 308 GT4.

The example shown here is a 1975 car, chassis no. 11390. Its Italian documentation confirms its 1,990 cm³ engine and retains the record of its former registration TA 407371.

Its file also allows us to trace part of its life in Italy. The car notably belonged to Mario D'Ayala Valva in Taranto. Several Italian vehicle inspections mark its history, from 1987 until 2015. In March 2015, it was registered to Grimaldi Auto in Vigevano, before being sold and exported to Belgium in May of the same year.

It also comes with its ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) certificate, which identifies the Dino 208 GT4, chassis number 11390, built in 1975 and registered in the Italian historic register. Its ASI plate number 35405 is also documented.

Today, it shows only 30,896 km on the odometer. While its older maintenance history is relatively poorly documented and does not allow for formal verification of this mileage since new, the car is presented in very good overall condition.

Most importantly, it recently underwent a complete overhaul in 2026, including the replacement of the timing belts – essential maintenance on this Ferrari V8. It is now ready to hit the road and be fully enjoyed by its next owner.

Rare, elegant, and still relatively unknown, this Dino 208 GT4 boasts some compelling features: Marcello Gandini's Bertone design, a carbureted V8 engine, a manual gearbox, only 840 examples produced, 30,896 km on the odometer, ASI certification, and, most importantly, a recently completed major service. A Ferrari in its own right, both in its design and character, still bearing the Dino badge, and a particularly attractive proposition for anyone seeking an Italian GT from the 1970s that is as original as it is rare.
