Description

Jaguar E Type 3.8 Litre OTS (roadster), year 1964.
This wonderful E type has matching numbers and retains its original body colour.
The exterior is finished in Opalescent Maroon (dark red metallic), combined with a beige (tan) leather interior featuring original bucket seats. Black soft top and original hard top in body colour.
This Jaguar E type (XK E in the USA) from the first series (S1) was manufactured on 17 January 1964 and shipped to New York, USA.
The name of the first US owner is stated on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHT) certificate.
The first owner enjoyed the car for 17,700 miles before it was garaged in 1972. In the following decades the ownership changed, with the car still being kept in storage.
In 2012, after forty years of idle repose, the E type was found by a Dutch Jaguar enthusiast who purchased the car from the second owner. The barn find E type was shipped to the Netherlands, where it underwent a full restoration between 2012 and 2016.
The bodywork, which was still in very good condition, was stripped to bare metal and repainted in the original colour.
The engine and gearbox were overhauled, and the rear axle was fitted with a European spec 3.07 differential ratio. Much of the work - overhauls, paintwork, etc. - was carried out by professional specialists. A restoration book is present, documenting every step of the restoration.
Other documentation and invoices are also on file. Since completion of the restoration, the car has covered about 13,000 miles in the hands of the lucky man who discovered it in 2012.
The car is in excellent condition, and the driving experience is magnificent.
The first series Jaguar E type is one of the most iconic cars ever conceived. The Jaguar E type was received with absolute astonishment and excitement at its introduction at the Geneva Motor Show on 15 March 1961. The only automobile to experience a comparable introduction was the Citroën DS19 in October 1955, which seemed to come straight from another planet.
This is your chance to acquire a special piece of automotive history: the sports car that Enzo Ferrari called “the most beautiful car ever made.”
