The Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Cabriolet, model W128, is a car that marked the automotive history of the late 1950s. Launched in 1958 and produced until 1960, the W128 is one of the last models in the "Pontons" range, known for its elegant design and technical advances. This particular model belongs to the 220 SE series, where the "SE" indicates fuel injection (Einspritzung in German), a relatively advanced technology for the time, offering better performance and optimized fuel consumption.

The 220 SE Cabriolet has a 2.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine, developing around 115 horsepower, which was quite powerful for its time. It can reach a top speed of almost 160 km/h. The W128 model is also notable for its driving comfort, thanks to its coil spring suspension and its luxurious interior, trimmed with high-quality wood and leather, as was customary in Mercedes-Benz luxury models.

Only 1,112 examples of the W128 220 SE Cabriolet were produced, making it a highly sought-after model among collectors. The W128 was replaced by the Mercedes 220 SEb, from the W111 series, which adopted a more angular design, marking a turning point in the styling of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Today, the W128 220 SE Cabriolet is considered a symbol of elegance and technical innovation of the 1950s, embodying the refinement and excellence of Mercedes-Benz. Its rarity and timeless allure make it a highly sought-after car on the collector car market.

This 1958 model is a very first series, produced in only 118 copies that year. Apart from a few traces of use on the body, this W128 is in exceptional condition, its interior is sumptuous in every respect. The hood is in perfect condition and its operation is flawless.

The car was acquired by its current owner in 2011 and has since covered just over 7,000 km.

The car is currently registered with “normal” Belgian plates.
