Description

Saab 93B Granturismo 750, year 1959.
Bodywork finished in blue combined with a blue green vinyl/cloth interior trimmed with silver piping.
This very special Saab Granturismo 750 comes from the rare second ‘B’ series of which only four cars are still known to exist! The Saab was sold new to the USA where it was registered in 1959.
In the year 2018 the Saab was shipped to the Netherlands where the automobile was extensively and perfectly restored to original factory specifications.
Costs nor effort were spared aiming for perfection.
The bodywork was stripped to the naked metal and restored, the interior was newly upholstered using the correct materials, and the mechanical components were overhauled by professional specialists.
This rare example is in a superb top condition, which will appeal to discerning collectors.
The Saab 93 GT750, introduced at the 1958 New York Automobile Show, was an early attempt to combine sportiness and luxury, a novel concept at the time.
Developed specifically for the American market, it was a modified version of the standard 93B.
Its three cylinder two-stroke engine was upgraded from 38bhp to 50bhp, and a 57bhp Super version was also available for racing.
These modifications, a significant power increase for its era, were done by hand in a special department after the cars left the production line.
The GT750 featured a sports interior with a special dashboard, wooden steering wheel, and adjustable seats. It was the first car to be fitted with seatbelts as standard, specifically two-point lap belts. A limited initial run was shipped to the US in mid-1958.
Despite initial success, sales declined, and production, originally planned for 500-600 units, was scaled back to an estimated 250-300 cars.
In terms of rarity, this Saab ranks third in Saab history. Four Ursaab prototypes were built between 1946 and 1947, and six Saab 94 Sonnett I prototypes were built between 1956 and 1957.
In third place is the Saab 93B Granturismo 750.
This is a unique chance to add a true museum piece to your (Saab) collection!
